Cleaning the MGB GT transmission tunnel

This must be one of the ugliest jobs you can do while lying under your MG on a creeper but it does need to be done.

The transmission tunnel is cleaning up very well using green scrub pads and paint thinner. I’m debating removing the driveshaft as this will make it possible to paint and undercoat the complete area around my pretty transmission. Of course if I do that I’ll have to clean the tunnel where the driveshaft lives and then paint the driveshaft. Where does it end?

Here’s another photo of the engine and transmission area before I started work on cleaning it. Fifty years of oil and dirt probably saved the car!
