I was looking through some old car magazines and racing programs a few days ago and came across a ticket from what is likely one of the first car races I ever attended. The 2nd Rex Mays 300 for Championship Cars was the final race of the 1968 USAC season and unfortunately the final race for the cool Lotus 4WD Pratt & Whitney Turbine.
It’s amazing the drivers that were in the field. This was an era when bored Formula 1 drivers would come over to the US to play and earn a little extra cash.
