I have been working on my MGB GT the past few days primarily redoing the wiring harness. I’ll update with a post soon but at this point will only say that… the job is going well, it’s taking longer than expected and, I’m learning all sorts of good stuff so I can do a better job on the next car.
In the meantime, there are many distractions this time of year. The garden is growing like crazy and many of the early season fruits are ready to pick. It’s a fine line as I like to leave the fruit on the bushes and trees as long as possible but the birds and squirrels also like to keep an eye on ripening fruit. Unfortunately they like to eat fruit about a day or two before i like to pick fruit. What this really means is that almost every day for the next few months I’ll be picking fruit of some sort.
This mornings fruit to pick was cherries from 1 of our 4 trees. These are delicious sweet cherries that my wife likes to preserve, often adding brandy or some other tasty flavouring. Warmed up over ice cream on a cool evening makes winter worthwhile. I’ll call them MGB GT cherries this year! While it’s not a bumper crop this year we still should have about 50 lbs or so.
I’m very fortunate to have a friend that drops by every day to help with picking fruit and veggies as well as cleaning up after me. We have known her since she was born, part of the family. The best part is that I don’t have to pay her, she just likes to hang out on the property and help.
We had two new arrivals on the property yesterday and they are lucky to be alive. I was cleaning up in front of my storage sheds and was about to mow the grass when a bird started chirping at me like crazy. This is what was in the grass at my feet. When I first stumbled across the nest only one chick had hatched. A few hours later there were two. Very cool!
