How many parts are in a 1967 MGB GT?

I was organizing my boxes of parts the other day and started wondering how many parts are in my MGB GT. Apparently modern cars have about 1,800 components with many of these made up of numerous parts. A typical Toyota has about 30,000 parts. That’s lots of bits and pieces to keep track of. I imagine my old MGB GT relic being a simple car has far fewer parts, I’ll guess about 10,000. Does anyone really know? What’s your guess?

I keep envisioning my car coming in a box like the Aoshima MGB model kit below. This kt might have 100 parts but it is likely 1/32 scale and doesn’t run very well. It also goes together with glue and you can paint the body any colour you want for about $5.00.

This is what my full size model kit is beginning to look like. My basement is beginning to look like a giant Tamiya model that needs to be assembled. The assembly room is a 600 square foot barn. Life was so much simpler when I was a kid. One good thing… my MGB GT body is already painted so I won’t have to buy cases of sandy beige spraypaint! An added bonus is that full size models still require smelly glues and paints to work with. Remember the great smell of Testers model glue?
