I finally have my blasting cabinet running

It only took about 9 months but I finally have my cheapo Harbor Freight blasting cabinet working. The best part… it’s working beautifully once I got the system figured out.

The blast cabinet is located down in my barn where I only have 15 amps of electrical service presently. This is enough to run my cheap large compressor that almost keeps up with blasting but struggles a little. I have to stop every 5 minutes or so and let the system rest. This is fine for now but I’ll be keeping my watch out for a used compressor in the future.

The big downside of only having 15 amps available is I can’t run a vacuum system on the blasting cabinet at the same time as the compressor. Fortunately I inherited a few small portable generators that have solved the issue. Now I have dust free blasting available, very cool!

I’m presently using recycled glass as my blasting medium and it seems to do a good job without being overly aggressive. Time to get to work.
