Installing the MGB GT oil pump is pretty straight forward. My pump was in pieces after cleaning and inspection and I decided to just put reinstall it one piece at a time. Here’s a photo of the oil pump spindle after being dropped in and meshing with the camshaft.

Of course we have to have the right 5 main bearing gasket here. This is really important, see my post about oil pump gaskets before you mess up!

The oil pump body and rotor are well lubed with assembly lube. Apparently lots of folks pack this area with Vaseline as well to help with priming the first time the engine is started.

The complete MGB oil pump is now installed and the bolts torqued down. Overall this procedure only took a few minutes.

With the filter in place the lower end of the engine is finished. I’ve decided at this point to temporarily put the oil pan on and move the engine to a cradle to finish up.
