The wire wheel knock offs have cleaned up really nicely and are in very good condition which is excellent. As with most of the chrome on the MG there is slight pitting from likely the past 25 years of life in the wet Pacific Northwest but a polish and wax and they will at least look good from a distance.
I hadn’t realized that these “safety” knock offs were a replacement for the “eared” knock offs that had been used successfully for years. I guess everything is a little more dangerous in the states. This appears to be one of the first MGB’s fitted with the safety knock offs as they apparently weren’t mandated until 1968. Perhaps California was a year earlier.
