Moss Motors Special Tuning Spoiler

2600

Being a very fortunate guy I have a wife that almost tolerates my MGB GT restoration. There have been a few issues but at least she appreciates what I am doing and what restoring my dad’s MGB means to me. A birthday gift certificate for Moss Motors arrived and I decided to spend it.

One of the real eyesores on my car was the front valance. When the MG was repainted for some reason the old beat up valance wasn’t touched. Being a racy sort of guy I decided perhaps a new front valance based on the racing MGB GT’s would be cool. Moss Motors to the rescue. They sell a fiberglass reproduction of the factory special tuning spoiler.

I ordered one a few days ago and it arrived today in Seattle. My first impression is that it’s a well made product and it’s made in the UK, not China like so much other shit. I think the molds are a little old as the fiberglass gel coat is a little rough in areas but I was expecting this. The valance appears to be blown fiberglass so structural strength might be a little iffy if you hit a speed pump or something but that’s not their fault.

My plan is to put a few layers of woven glass on the back to stiffen it up a little. I’ll also sand the air dam and once I paint it it will look fantastic.

Stay tuned, hopefully I’ll be installing the new spoiler in the next few months. I’ll blog about how he installation goes.
