Original MGB GT California license plates

I knew I had these original California license plates in my office and finally found them tonight. What’s interesting is that they have 1963 stamped on them so either the license plate manufacturers must have cranked out a huge number of plates that year or my father transferred them from another vehicle. Something to check out. Pretty cool, will definitely be putting these on the MGB when I’m running it next year,

  1. All California original black and gold plates have 63 in the top right corner, that indicates the year that color scheme was adopted and ran through 68 or so. In 1963 a total change out of all previous licence plates was mandatory although the state didn’t require you to surrender your older plates just install the new ones. I remember my dad having to go to DMV and pick up his new plates for our old Ford
