Remember when smoking was cool? MG ashtray

I didn’t grow up in a family of smokers (cigarettes anyway!) but I do remember family friends smoking, smoking on airplanes, smoking in cars, just about smoking anywhere. Times have changed in Canada and the U.S.

Well, on the collectibles action here, we have a MG ashtray, not for the car but for you house or perhaps the bar. Light up but be safe, remember “Safety Fast!”. Unfortunately lighting up isn’t safe but I guess we didn’t know back then. Still cool though after all these years.

  1. I have two of these. I believe they were originally designed and made for my aunt, Ivy McCochlan nee Smith who worked at the factory in Abingdon, UK, in the late 1940’s before moving to the US (Boston, Massachusetts) as a GI bride.
