Almost there with removing the crankshaft but first up is removing the timing chain. Getting the crankshaft pulley off was easy with my el cheapo impact wrench, you just have to find a large socket 1 5/16th that unfortunately in my rural area of the great white north wasn’t that easy to find.

I figured the timing chain would slip off easily but of course you have to undo all the assorted nuts holding the gear clusters on. Fortunately the camshaft nut is also 1 5/16. Once the timing chain was off I noticed what could potentially have caused a big issue at some point. All the bolts on the camshaft thrust plate had backed out and one of them was nicely bent. Scary shit!

The good news, no damage done and everything is in excellent condition. Looking good so far.
