Since I’ve been taking the interior apart the past few weeks I keep on getting a little carried away removing items. I pulled off the MGB GT interior mirror which is really pretty useless as it’s so small but that’s another issue completely. The main issue with the mirror is that the plastic is so badly deteriorated that it’s chalky and crumbles off easily. The chrome isn’t exactly happy either being badly pitted.

I guess there are two possibilities here, the first is to buy a reproduction mirror or try and locate an original mirror in good shape. The second, buy an aftermarket mirror that is larger and might actually be useful.

In the meantime, I’ve sprayed the plastic on the mirror with an enamel paint and will use epoxy filler to fill in the holes. A coat of paint and at least the flaking will be under control. Still won’t be able to see much though, maybe an aftermarket cool racing mirror would look good.
