What’s with all the new URL extensions?

What’s with all the new URL extensions? Remember the good ole days where there were only .com, .org, .net and a few others for government and military institutions? A few new ones rolled out maybe 10 years ago; .info and .biz (used for many porn sites apparently) being a few of them. People started paying stupid prices for .com domain names before we ran out. Millions of dollars to rent a name, go figure.

Here it is in 2016 and we now have hundreds of extensions available, most of them totally stupid. I was just renewing a few domain names and looked at the crazy list. We now have .guru .world .fit .today .xxx .clothing .lawyer .forsale and many more in what has become a big money making scam.

Here’s the good news for car freaks though. As of today we now have .car .cars and .auto. Think of the possibilities; dieselgate.auto would be good for Volkswagen. Maybe rusted.cars could work, stolen.cars, all sorts of possibilities.

Now wouldn’t it be cool to have MGB.car or something like that? Look at this BS. GoDaddy wants $3,975.99 Canadian pesos to register the name. I know the Canadian dollar isn’t worth much but this isn’t the Greek drachma we are talking about. This is 3,976 Canadian loonies we are talking about, that’s 25 kilograms of loonies or about 55 pounds.

That got me thinking about what a scam this is so I tried something else.

    fucking.cars what a scam

Now you would think that these scammers would want to rip us off for the best names and let us have a not overly desirable name for cheap right? No way, check this out.

    I think I’ll stick with .com’s for a while.
